Membership costs just £5 for the year or £10 for life!

The Poynting Physical Society, bearing the name of the University of Birmingham’s first Professor of Physics, is one of the largest and most respected Physics Societies in the United Kingdom with over 800 life members.

The society was originally set up to provide a social release for undergraduates in the School of Physics, but now brings all parts of the department together for social events - as many members of staff have found, you don't need to be studying for your first degree to enjoy the benefits of membership!

PPS runs many different social events through out the year, including BBQ's, pub crawls and quizzes, with our main event being the Physics Ball held in the Spring term. We run social events within the School of Physics and Astronomy, although non-physicists are always welcome!
